Mannum

Mannum's early history developed around the personal desire of William Randell, the son of an early pastoralist, to operate a steamboat on the River Murray. In 1853 Randell launched his Paddle Steamer MARY ANN at Noa No Landing, 5km upstream from the present site of MANNUM, and in doing so, opened up one of the most romantic eras in the history of Australia.  Mannum, widely recognised as the birthplace of the Murray Paddlesteamer, is a historic town with an active boating tradition.

Situated in the Murraylands of South Australia, Mannum is approximately 1 hour leisurely drive from Adelaide, with the main business centre conveniently located within a minute's walk from the riverfront and the picturesque Mary Ann Reserve, home of the Murray Princess.

In the Murraylands Mannum is a great base but there are numerous other quaint town settlements in the region, such as Palmer, Swan Reach, Walker Flat, Nildottie, Younghusband, Cambrai, Sedan and Bowhill that all offer a lifestyle of their own, whether it be country living, rural lifestyle or a holiday home on the banks of the River Murray.
